João Martinho: Digital Arts in Braga - Portugal

João Martinho is an Interactive Media Artist. His interests are focused in intelligent interfaces, digital art and music. He worked in several projects in the fields of education, media, entertainment, telecommunications and health industries, in Portugal, Israel, France and United Kindom. He is also a musician and the founder of TECField (a company dedicated in software innovation) and TFDT.ORG (a company dedicated in design innovation).
João Martinho developed the YMYI (You Move You Interact) as an interactive installation, where one is supposed to build up a body language dialogue with an artificial system so as to effectively achieve a synchronized performance between the real user's body and the virtual object itself. The project aims at exploring a spatial sphere, where the user/performer is invited to develop his own creative inspiration based on his own body gestures and movements.
The artfact may be used in a specific space, a city, an historial centre or even a museum. It will be interesting to link several cities through the system (maybe the CITIES partners) - one citizen from one city could interact, in real time, with other citizen in a different city.
The project has also been tested with children with good results: http://tfdt.org/interactiveresearch.html
