About us

INTELI is a think tank centred on the area of innovation policy and management. Its mission is “contributing to a creative and innovative society, aimed at sustainable economic and social development”.
Generating innovative ideas and creative solutions to governance problems, developing strategic information systems on sectors and territories, and providing recommendations to support political and social decision-making processes are the main aims of INTELI.

Strategic Areas

•  Industry and Technology: To develop the country's technology and industry base in three main sectors - automotive, aeronautics and defence, and energy.
•  Regions and Cities: To foster creativity, innovation and knowledge in cities and regions, articulating the key dimensions of territorial competitiveness.
•  Governance and Society: To promote social and institutional innovation, seeking to build a more competitive society with greater civic and democratic participation.

Creativity Programme

Creativity is one of the domains of INTELI’s research agenda with the objective of:

• Generating an information base on creativity and innovation;
• Developing policy recommendations on creativity and innovation at European, national, regional and local level;
• Producing action plans on creativity and innovation to be implemented in regions, cities and companies.

Relevant Projects

• CREATIVE CLUSTERS - Creative Clusters in Low Density Urban Areas – EC URBACT II: To promote the exchange of best practices and the proposal of policy recommendations and action plans related with creative clusters in small urban centres.
• INTELLIGENT CITIES - Innovation Hubs and Urban Regeneration – EC INTERREG III C: To provide strategic orientations for the design and planning of creative urban places.
• Paredes - Creative City for Furniture Design: To define a strategy and an action plan in order to transform Paredes, a medium-sized city in Portugal, into a creative city for design.
• Óbidos – Creative Town Project: To transform a small town in the Centre Region of Portugal, Óbidos, through creativity, with the aim of creating a unique place to live, work, learn and play.
