The 54th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, with the title of ILLUMInazioni - ILLUMInations, will be available to the international public from June 4 to November 27 2011 at the two most important locations of Venice: the Giardini and the Arsenale. More than 30 other venues will host several international pavillions all around the city of Venice in order to show to international tourists the exhibitions and the collateral events of the 83 artists from all over the world.

The director of the 2011 biennal exhibition is Bice Curiger, a Swiss art historian and critic, just curator of exhibitions at an international level. The title of this year Biennale shall be well described by the words of the director who underlined that "ILLUMInations emphasizes the intutitive insight and the illumination of thought that is fostered by an ancounter with art and its ability to shapen the tools of perception". She, moreoveer, added that "(...) ILLUMInations will focus on the light of the illuminating experience, on the epiphanies that come with the intercommunicative and intellectual comprehension". 

Besides the main intineray set up by 32 young (born after 1975) international artists, as well as 32 women artists, other 89 National Participations and 37 Collateral Events will be arranged by international organizations and institutions in various locations of the City of Venice.
