The 2011 edition of the Venice Film Festival foresees a 11 days of screenings schedule starting from the 31st August. However, an extraordinary pre-opening is scheduled fof Tuesday the 30th August in Venice at 8:30 pm at Arena Campo San Polo with the screening of I piccioni di Venezia (1942) by Francesco Pasetti, followed by Impardonnables (2011) by André Téchiné.
The 2011 opening film is THE IDES OF MARCH, directed by the famous actor George Clooney.
The International Jury for the Competion will be chaired by the Oscar-nominated American director, producer and screenwriter Darren Aronofsky. He garnered extraordinary critical and commercial success worldwide for Black Swan (2010) and the previous The Wrestler (2008).
The line-up of the 68th Venice Film Festival includes the sections, Venezia 68 (In Competition), Out of Competition, Orizzonti and Controcampo Italiano, alongside a retrospective section and two autonomous sections (International Critics' Week and Venice Days).
