LABoral will exhibit that work carried out by the children who participated in the camp Jugamos,Creamos, organised in collaboration with La Escuela de Educación Infantil El Bibio.
Over two two-week long periods, a total 70 children from four to eleven years of age carried out activities in El Centro de Arte such as guided tours, games and artistic expression. The idea was to introduce them to creative inspiration, culminating in the public presentation of the works of art finished during the camp. These activities were based in the project The Addiction–The Collection by Paula Fernández which is currently being exhibited at LABoral and was one of the winning projects of the 2009 Production Assistance Grants. On a daily basis, the workshops were given by LABoral's mediation team, the teachers at El Bibio and the artist Paula Fernández; during the last week, the Asturian artist Pablo de Soto joined the workshop to teach the older children about maps. Children were introduced to examples of works by very well-known contemporary artists such as Marcel Duchamp, Anish Kapoor, Jenny Holzer, Erwin Wurn or Brian Donnelly in order to actively learn about the different steps of the creative process. Musical ambiance for the exhibitions inauguration was provided by the children themselves as they
performed both morning and afternoon concert sessions.
