This upcoming September 10 is the deadline for submissions for the LABjoven_Experimenta Award, bestowed conjointly by the Ministry of Culture of the Principality of Asturias through El Instituto Asturiano de la Juventud and LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial. The LABjoven_Experimenta Award, bestowed for the fourth consecutive year, it is given annually to a young Asturian artist or resident in the Principality of Asturias younger than 35 years old.

The objective is to support experimental artistic projects (installations,multimedia installations, art actions, interventions or any other creative process), conceived specifically for an exhibition in the Gallery Platform 1 of LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial.

The winning Project will be selected by a jury integrated by the Regional Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Executive Director of LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, Rosina Gómez-Baeza, and professionals working in the artistic and creative field. They will consider uses of the space, project artistic value, technical quality of the project and innovative and experimental elements. The project must be entirely original. The winner will receive 18,000 Euros for production costs and the project will be exhibited at the Gallery Platform 1of LABoral any time after February, 2011.

With this competition, LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial wants to carry out its intention to assist and promote art work created by young artists in the region. On the other hand, El Instituto Asturiano de la Juventud has incorporated this award into the 2010 Culturaquí programme.
